Fidelity

Fidelity can DRS shares.

Specifics for Fidelity

Once your shares are settled in Fidelity:

  • Call Fidelity at 800-343-3548, or use their online chat support at https://www.fidelity.com/customer-service/contact-us. (If you use online chat support, in many cases the transfer request can now be processed automatically without the need of a support agent.)
  • Say or write: “I want to DRS transfer shares”.
  • If necessary, specify your account number in which you hold stocks from which you want to DRS.
  • Specify which eligible stocks to DRS.
  • Specify how many shares you'd like to DRS transfer.
  • If they ask you questions, or try to talk you out of it, simply repeat yourself.

The transfer will take 2-3 business days to process.

If you don't have an existing account at your issuer's transfer agent, the transfer agent will open account for you and contact you using the information provided to them by Fidelity. This may take additional time (e.g., 2-3 business days).

Even if you do have an existing account at your issuer's transfer agent, Fidelity will transfer the shares based on your name and address. As a result, a second account may be created for you. This can be for a few reasons, such as a middle initial existing on one account, but not the other. If your name and address match exactly, then the transfer will process within the normal amount of time. If not, then it may take additional time (e.g., 2-3 business days).

Fidelity may ask you for an account number at your transfer agent. It is not required. For security reasons we do not recommend giving this information to them. Having your account number could enable Fidelity to initiate a transfer of shares out of DRS and back to them.
